Thanks to Victor Gamboa for eventually responding to my pleas in the night and recommending Frank Miller's The Spirit. Worst luck, though: just yesterday I was standing with elbow on appropriately-positioned stool saying I'd give everyone a million dollars if Frank Miller made a weird pastiche of his most famous film with none of the class, depth or Robert Rodriguezes; not only was everyone in the whole world in the room with me, but they put it on Space YouTube for all the aliens to see. In that respect, I'm doubly glad for sweet patrons such as Victor Gamboa for supporting us in everything (artistic (for the podcast)) that we do. Thanks for that – and this!

Paul Salt was born in reverse-Gaspar Noe style last week, so while he’s reknitting his genetic makeup in a soupy vat in the Lewisham YMCA, I’ve unearthed footage of us from a week ago (specially recorded for today like a real episode) in which we watch and discuss the Gorehouse Great animal-revenge movie Stanley. Tally-Ho and other classic Leslie Nielsen phrases! This week the Pauls begin their trip down 90s Lane, avoiding as they shamble the glassy stares of the remaining members of Take That, murky old coins with Craig Charles' face on them and the battle for Cool Britannia, which was literally a war waged literally on our literal childhoods via Hot Teen Music.
We saw a bunch of movies back then, just like now, the difference being we were slightly less discerning in our early years. Exhibit A: Spy Hard. It seemed like pretty much the number one comedy of our generation when we were still wearing Polos for poverty glasses and Hula Hoops for underage poverty wedding rings. All the lads and dads RAVED the Spy News. And now...?
