It was the kind of British day where people lounge around complaining about how hot it ought to be. A drizzly, melancholy kind of day that stretched endlessly before those unfortunate enough to be on its receiving end. "I drank too much last night!" Barry Spudmen grumbled into his cold chips, the pebbly beach pulsating beneath his be-sandaled feet. "We all drank too much last night" offered his estranged live-in former husband. Ned Merill, desperately counting fag ends, looked windward and considered a long, elegiac journey back to his home in Derby, ultimately deciding against it. Glumly returning to his fag ends he mumbles "I'm gonna drink so much tonight..."
Featuring: A discussion of Frank Perry's 1968 film The Swimmer and the source material upon which it was based; a short story by John Cheever. The discussion is conducted by two grown men named Paul and lasts for 75 minutes.
